Museum Ships Weekend at the Battleship Texas, Saturday and Sunday June 3 & 4.
June 3 - June 4
To all HAMs and HAM wannabes or curious HVRA members, this will be a fun weekend event on June 3 & 4! The air conditioned HAM shack, the ship has provided, is on second deck, port side. That is the left side of the ship, facing the bow or front end of the ship as conveniently defined for landlubbers. Battleship Texas (BTARS) station NA5DV will go on the air Saturday and continue overnight, and into Sunday contacting other museum ships and HAM operators around the world. This annual event is hosted by NJ2BB Battleship New Jersey. From BB 35 Manager: “All BTARS members spending the night aboard must be TPWD volunteers in good standing (have a completed background check) and you will need to coordinate with Kandace@battleshiptexas.org for overnight accommodations. Please do provide us the list of names ahead of time.” Contact Joe Peet – NA5DV / Trustee: Katy, Texas 832-701-4952 if you plan to participate. There will be many scouts spending the night on board so here is your chance to acquaint the younger generation with HAM radio and make contacts as fast as you can record them – don’t get writer’s cramp – so, it is advisable to bring along a laptop if you know how to type.
